Q2: Do you have button parts without loops (Flat Back) with a hole instead?
The loop on the regular back parts can be removed with pliers leaving behind two small holes. The metal is quite soft, so the size of the holes can be increase by using small pointed tool.
Q3: Is the back of the cover button completely flat, or is it recessed?
A3: All sizes are recessed about 2mm or 3mm.
Q4: I want to make hair band cover buttons, can the rubber knot be hidden within the button?
A4: Yes, you can remove the loops from a regular cover button levaing behind two holes. Depending on the size of the elastic, you may need to increase the size of the holes using a pointed tool. Insert the elastic through the holes and knot prior to assembling the cover button.
Q5: Can I use a Glue Dot to attach a hair pin, what if the Glue Dot is larger that the pad on the accessory?
A5: Glue Dots are a double sided adhesvie gel. They do not dry completely by remain sticky. Because they do not dry or harden, there can be some movement when using them to attach magnets, etc. We recommend using 3M adhesive for attaching hair pins. If the Glue Dot diameter is larger than the accessory, you can adjust the size of the Glue Dot by folding the edges inward.
Q6: Can I use a material like satin or gauze?
A6: Some thin materials have a tendency to slip when assembling the cover button. Using an adhesive designed for fabrics could solve this. Be sure to use the adhesive on the back side where the fabric wraps around to avoid staining the fabric.
Q7: What is the age limit for cover buttons?
A7: All parts are not intended for use by children, please keep out of reach.
Q8: Are there tools required for making cover buttons?
A8: Each size cover button requires it's own hand tool, silicon and plastic set. We have kits available that contain all sizes and tools. Other sets may not include the hand tool so please be sure to order it separately.
Q9: When I attach the special plastic back to the cover button there is a small gap visible, how can I rectify this?
A9: This gap will depend on the thickness of the material you are using. Thicker material will have no gap and thin material will have a noticeable gap.
Q10: There are buttons parts and button parts for a hand press. Which should I use?
A10: Regular buttons parts can only be assembled by hand using the small silicon and plastic tools. Button parts for the hand press can only be assembled with the hand press machine. The parts are not interchangeable. In addition, button parts for the press machine all have loops on the back part (which can be removed) and are not recessed, they are completely flat. Whereas the regular button parts have back parts with and without loops and have a recessed back.
Q11: The white portion of my cover button tool arrived deformed, what can I do?
A11: The white portion is made of a soft silicon rubber so that the cover button can be removed easier. This material is prone to distortion but it can usually be fixed by inserting the tool in boiling water for a few minutes.
